Several years ago, I stopped shopping at Christmas. I come from a fairly successful family - we all have everything we need and most everything we want. I hated going crazy trying to find some "thing" to give, worrying whether or not I had spent "enough" - it was ridiculous, depressing, and totally unfullfilling. Now I sponsor children from the Salvation Army Angel Trees and take photos of their gifts. The photos are enclosed in Christmas cards to my family and friends. Or, I buy chickens, goats, pigs, etc from Heifer Project in honor of my family and friends. It sure brings back the true Spirit of Christmas and allows the time to do things like bake real cookies with my 3 year old grandson, which we then take to local nursing homes and the fire station around the corner. Peace. On Earth. Goodwill. To all.

Excellent idea! I just got done from a 6 hour cookie making marathon! And it was a total blast. Those pre-made cookies are lame. To be honest, the ones with pictures on them strike me as downright creepy.
