Reading Carl's post I realised that my recent weekend was indeed slow - I took a bike ride, went to the sauna (a tradition in Estonia), did some gardening work and had long conversations with people close to me. Love it!:)

After reading this blog, I was curious to find out a little bit more of the history behind why Sunday is what it is. Maybe not so distant a social memory after all??

I found Sunday... Day of the Sun, according to the Egyptians' assignment of a different astrological power to each day of the week. Romans took over this convention. Constantine, the first Christian emperor, delivered an Edict which forbade judges to sit and townspeople to work on Sunday. An exception was made in favor of agriculture.

So go forth, go slow, and farm.
